my beauty base

We have all had that moment when we look in the mirror and decide our face looks tired. I never look too closely after a night of self inflicted indulgence, otherwise know as FUN. However, there have been plenty of mornings where I see the imprints of a busy life all over my less tolerant 40 year old face. Instead of racing to my makeup drawer to recreate a more glowing reflection, I run to my fridge for a batch of my go to replenishing beauty base cocktail. I truly believe our skin is a silent story teller of what's going on inside our mind and body. Now, downing a cup of freshly pressed homemade juice isn't the holy grail solution to tired skin, but if a bright eyed and lively feeling ensues after drinking then why the heck not?

Personally, I notice a difference in my skin and overall well being when I have prepped my weekly batch of homemade pressed juice. The recipe below is my beauty base cocktail with core ingredients that taste great on their own or can be used as a foundation for your own juicing heart's desire.

Beauty Base Juice
12-16 Apples
1 Bunch of celery
2 Cucumbers
Ginger root palm size
1-2 Lemons
Enhanced Collagen - I like Organika
Fresh mint

I put all ingredients except lemon, mint and collagen into my Breville Juice Fountain Cold Juicer. Squeeze the juice of lemon into the batch and give it a stir. Transfer into glass mason jars ( I find it keeps better in glass) and add fresh mint. When I'm ready to enjoy I will mix in my Organika Enhanced Collagen. Use less apples and add carrots or beets for flavour variation.

Note: If you don't have a juicer, blend in a blender and use a cheesecloth to express juice. I did this before investing in my juicer. Check out how it's done here.

Be Well,
